Where’s Deacon Ellen

“Where have you been?” is the most common greeting I hear these days! Never fear, I remain appointed to People’s Church, where my youngest is in confirmation class and my two college kids visit when they are in town. There have been, and continues to be, much transition and traveling for me and my family this fall. I am completing my fourth chaplaincy training unit in Milwaukee, which involves being away from home variable days each week, including many weekends. I will complete this unit in the beginning of January and finally be eligible to apply for credentialing as a board-certified chaplain and hopefully find a position as a hospital chaplain in the Madison area. I will remain appointed to People’s as a deacon.

Our family is also adjusting to major changes. My husband of 24 years and I are divorcing. We sold our house in rural New Glarus last month, and Josh and I are living in an apartment in New Glarus so he can finish school there. We are all doing fine, but congregational prayer is always appreciated!

Come January, I should be back to singing with Aspire and helping lead worship! Thank you for your patience as I weather these necessary changes and challenges of life. You will probably notice one further change when the divorce is finalized- I will drop the hyphenated name and once again be a Williams.
