Living Our Faith Missions
This month we start a new quarter, and the emphasis will be Hunger/Poverty. The Missions of the Month will be: April-Oregon Food Pantry, May-The Odyssey Project, and June-Habitat for Humanity.
Giving for the first quarter Missions of the Month was as follows: Ronald McDonald House, $1,167.30, Three Gaits, $2,933.76, and The Healing House, $1,757.70 as of 3/20/17.
We received a thank you card from the Ronald McDonald House: “Thank you so much for your very generous gift recently. … Your gift will do so much to help us provide for the children and families we serve. We simply could not do our work without the help of friends like you.”
Habitat for Humanity Faith Build
People’s Church has signed on to participate in a Faith Build this year. We will be working alongside Asbury United Methodist Church, Bethany United Methodist Church, The Church (at Christ Memorial), Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and McFarland Lutheran Church. This is a larger commitment than we usually make for a single build. There will be multiple volunteer work days over the next nine months. We are also committed to a donation of $7,500 from missions giving over the next three years. Once we have the schedule for build dates, they will be announced to the congregation. If you are interested in being a part of this build, please contact me at email@example.com.
A group is forming to explore People’s Church becoming a sanctuary church. If you are interested in being involved, and have not already expressed that interest, please contact either Pastor Mahnke at firstname.lastname@example.org or Kathy Smith at email@example.com.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours, Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ is to look out on a hurting world. Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which he is to bless now. ~Teresa of Avila
