Christian Living & Outreach

August has been a busy month for both Connections and Missions!

August 1st, we participated in National Night Out with balloons and ice cream cones. We gave out over 275 ice cream cones, and an unknown number of balloons. Everyone that participated had fun and the children enjoyed the cones!

The week of August 14th, our church participated in an ecumenical effort to provide lunches for families in need. We had participants that prepared lunch bags every day, and then delivered them to the distribution sites in Oregon and Brooklyn. This is the first year for this program and it was organized by the Community Recreation Director.

Thank you to everyone that volunteered with these projects!

The Church received a thank you letter from Anderson Park Friends (July Mission of the Month) – “We appreciate your support of the work that our Friends group is trying to accomplish and hope you will encourage the members of your congregation to visit the park and see how their donation is being put to use.” We donated $1,869 to their organization!

The Hospitality Team still needs help. The Hospitality Team is still in need of four more volunteers. These are all second shift openings. The second shift volunteers arrive by 10:15 a.m. to help with the Fellowship time (refilling trays, checking coffee, removing dirty dishes). They are then responsible for cleaning up the coffee service after the 10:30 service. If this ministry interests you, please contact Kathy Smith.

Christ has no body now on earth but yours,

no hands but yours,

no feet but yours,

Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ

is to look out on a hurting world.

Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good.

Yours are the hands with which he is to bless now. ~Teresa of Avila
