Christian Living & Outreach

“You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” Deuteronomy 10:19.

Outreach: How are we doing at genuinely and authentically welcoming people? If a “secret visitor” came to our church, what would be the report? How do you respond to newcomers each week? Let us challenge ourselves to offering a simple and gracious word of greeting in worship to one person that we don’t know each week. You don’t know what that person might be going through.

Missions - Volunteers with Background Checks Needed for Outside Cleanup Day:

The Disaster Response team is hosting an Outside Cleanup Day at Elroy UMC: 125 Royall Ave., Elroy, WI on Saturday, October 6 at 9 a.m. They are inviting anyone who would like to participate and are specifically inviting youth group. All Youth Groups must have Chaperones and the Chaperones must have a background check completed through their local church.

The focus is to pick up the debris, lawnmowers, etc. that is still littering the riverbanks, parks and various open spaces. Please wear gloves and footwear that can get wet/dirty. A facemask is also suggested. Please email Lynette Jordan at with an approximate number of volunteers a few days prior so there are enough supplies, worksites and lunches.

Mission of the Month - The Beacon

The Beacon is a comprehensive day resource center for people who are experiencing homelessness in Dane County. They help over 150 men, women, and children each day, 365 days a year.

Throughout their services, people have opportunities to find a better life. They are committed to providing services that address the causes of homelessness in an environment where people are supported and treated with respect and dignity.

Along with their basic needs’ services, they are a one-stop-shop for people to connect with other area social services agencies who have offices right at The Beacon. The guests do not have to find transportation and visit several locations to get the critical help they need. For more information visit
