October—December 9th - Sunday School Offering

The Sunday School children will be collecting money for the Oregon Food Pantry. Our second Bible story will be focused on the story of the widow’s offering. You might remember this story when Jesus told about the rich man that gave a little of his riches and showed off a lot and the widow gave the only 2 coins she had and kept quiet about it. She shared everything. We will be discussing what it means to bring an offering to God. We give because God first gave to us and our offerings help others who are less fortunate than ourselves. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to LIVE out your faith as disciples of Jesus and help your neighbor just like the widow Encourage your children to do extra chores to earn the money or give part of their allowance. Note: It would be helpful for your child to bring their $ in a Ziploc baggie and to limit the number of pennies that they bring. Thanks!

Christmas Tree Blessing: I’ve included a prayer that your family can say together after you set up your Christmas tree:

God, who created the birds in the air, the fish in the sea, the stars in the sky, and the trees in the ground, bless this tree as we decorate it and make it a joyful symbol in our home.

May its branches remind us of the shade and shelter you provide for us and for many creatures.

May its trunk remind us of your strength.

May its lights bring us peace.

May we remember your gift to us this season, the gift of baby Jesus.

Amen.

Note: After decorating the tree, set up a manger scene below the tree.
