Christian Living & Outreach

Christian Living: “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.” Isaiah 58:10.

There is an abundance of opportunities for all of us to live our faith in our community, and the communities surrounding us. One way to find an opportunity is to look at the website of an organization that interests you. Most non-profit groups will have lists of volunteer opportunities and contact information. Throughout the year, the Living our Faith Missions Committee will be posting volunteer opportunities on the LIVE bulletin board (next to the elevator). If you have a specific interest, but are unsure what might be available, please stop in and talk with me and I’ll see what I can connect you with.

Helping others in whatever you are doing brings great joy! The best part of helping others is the joy you see in those you are helping. The smiles on their faces, the way their eyes light up, and the very sincere thank you they give. And it takes so little to bring that joy!

Outreach: In the first couple of weeks of March, we will be distributing Easter invitation cards after each service. These cards are to help you invite people to church for Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter. Please pass them out to anyone you have contact with: the cashier at Bill’s, your hair stylist, the cashier at Walgreen’s, your waitress at Sonny’s, a co-worker, your neighbor. You could also leave one on your table at the restaurant, put one in the tray when you pay your bill, leave some on the counter at your bank. This is an easy form of evangelism. You don’t need to do much other than hand them a card. Be brave! I know you can do it.

On March 18th at 4:00 p.m., the Green Team will be presenting Bob Lindmeier, Caring for God’s Creation. This event is open to the public, so please invite your friends, neighbors and family to come.
