Opportunities to Serve:
People’s Church Hosting Oregon Area Food Pantry May 31st-- People’s Church is scheduled to host the food pantry three times a year. We will be hosting for the month of May and need volunteers. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work on pantry day. Youth can work for sorting dates. Children under the age of 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent. Volunteers are needed on May 31st for the following shifts – 8:45am-11:00am, 2:45pm-5:00pm, and 4:45pm-7:00pm. There will be sorting times during the weeks before, but those dates are not yet determined. There is also a postal workers collection on May 12th, and volunteers will be needed throughout the day. Please check your interest on the blue connections slip and be sure to include your email. You can also contact Kathy Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Catholic Multicultural Center is the May Mission of the Month. In addition to financial donations, they have many other opportunities to help. Volunteer information is listed on the LIVE bulletin board. If you would like assistance in connection with the Center, please contact Kathy Smith in the church office or at email@example.com.
Oregon Senior Center – “Thank you for supporting the summer concert series! Many people enjoy the opportunity to relax in our all-too-brief summer evenings – and the summer concerts are something that every can afford, thanks to generous sponsors like People’s Church!” Donation made through the Connections Team.
Lung Cancer Research Foundation – “On behalf of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, thank you for your generous contribution of $627.08 received on April 5, 2018. With help from donors like you, we are making great headway in the fight against lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer death worldwide.” Donation made through Pastor Gifts.
UMCOR – “Your gift received on 3/13/18 of $545.00 is supporting programs that fight hunger and poverty, assist the displaced, and respond to disasters. Giving through The Advance enabled United Methodists to partner with one another in mission and ministry around the world. Thank you for joining with us to “Be Hope” to those who desperately need it.” Individual donations.
The May Mission of the Month is the Catholic Multicultural Center
The Catholic Multicultural Center is dedicated to helping our brothers and sisters in need by serving the whole person. They accomplish this mission by meeting immediate needs, providing educational services, and offering spiritual and cultural activities to recognize and respect the dignity of each person. Some of the services they provide are:
- Basic Needs – Food Pantry, Personal Essentials Pantry, Free Meal, Health Advocacy, Shower and Laundry;
- Education and Employment Programs - Classes, Employment Search Assistance, Food Service Training, Computer Lab, Youth Activities;
- Immigration Legal Services
- Community Engagement – Rural Service, Care for Creation
