The Memory Café will meet every second Thursday of the month, beginning on October 11th from 9:30-11:00am in the State Bank of Cross Plains-Oregon Community Room. A memory café is a place where individuals with memory loss and their care partners get together in a relaxed setting, share common interests and enjoy refreshments.

Thank You Dan Behrend!

Saturday Night Worship – A Thank You and a Welcome:

On Saturday, September 2, Dan Behrend will be preaching for the last time at the Saturday night, 5:00 p.m. service. The Saturday evening service is lead by lay preachers three times a month and Pastors Jason or Kate once a month. Dan has been preaching twice a month on Saturday nights for over two years now. We truly appreciate his leadership and our prayers go with him as he continues to preach for Moravian churches on Sunday mornings.

Sister Church in Russia

People’s Joins in a Sister Church Relationship with a Church in St. Petersburg, Russia:

This past May, pastor Jason traveled with Bishop Jung, our District Superintendent Scott Carlson, and two other pastors to St. Petersburg, Russia to explore beginning a sister relationship with the United Methodist Churches there.  After a fruitful trip, the Bishop invited People’s Church to enter into a sister relationship with a new church that has just been planted in St. Petersburg (it’s so new it doesn’t even have a name yet).

When asked if I would be willing and able to lead the Milwaukee mission trip I could have easily said NO with acceptable reasons: in the middle of new-hire classroom training at work, the Toronto mission trip, that Friday evening was booked to honor my dad by walking as part of Relay for Life, using another week of vacation time for a non-vacation, and so on.

For several weeks, a robin family occupied a nest in the bush outside my office window at the church. They came and went, preparing their nest hidden away in the branches. One day, finally, I heard a great commotion, and sure enough I saw a baby robin in the nest. Its mother had just landed on the edge of the nest, carrying something for it to eat.

This August marks the start of my 13th year as teacher/director of Little Angels. In 2005, I started with just 2 part-time, school year only teachers, 2 morning-only classes, and 14 children.
